REDDING, Calif. – Redding Cancer Treatment Center announces that Board Certified Surgeon Vicki J. Philben, M.D. has been named Soroptimist International of Redding's 2016 Person of Distinction.
Soroptimist International of Redding is an international women's organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls in their local communities and throughout the world.
Soroptimist representative, Lorraine Ramsden, presented Dr. Philben with the distinction, recognizing her commitment to breast cancer awareness and her impact on her patients and the community.
“Dr. Philben consistently goes above and beyond what would be the general expectation in her practice. She is passionate in the pursuit of making sure that all of her patients receive only the very highest quality of care,” said Ramsden. “In some instances, she has even gone unpaid and forgiven debts for those who were underinsured and unable to pay. Putting her patients first is commonplace for this compassionate caregiver.”
Dr. Philben is a fellowship-trained surgical oncologist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Surgical Oncologists.
