REDDING, Calif. – Oct 18, 2018 – 21st Century C.A.R.E., an organization dedicated to cancer patients, will be hosting Trick or Trot Fun Run/Walk for a Cure on Oct. 20 at Lema Ranch Trails.
The Trick or Trot is sponsored in a collaborated effort by Dignity Health, Redding Cancer Treatment Center, KIXE, MD Imagine, Wellcare MD, Burch Physical Therapy, Redding Periodontal Specialists, Mix 101FM, Premier Oil Change, and Owens Healthcare. The event aims to bring support to cancer patients local to the Redding community by providing more financial assistance, cancer screenings, and educational programs on cancer.
Trick or Trot is a family-friendly event open to all ages and costumes are encouraged. Participants can choose to run in the timed 5K, walk, or trot their way through the trails. The first 100 registrations will receive a free bag of goodies and a t-shirt. In addition, participants will also receive a pumpkin.
On Saturday, Oct. 20th, registration will begin promptly at 7 a.m. The 5K timed run will start at 8 a.m. with the untimed 5K and two-mile walk starting five minutes later at 8:05 a.m. Following the event, refreshments will be provided and awards will take place at 9:30 a.m.
21st Century C.A.R.E. has teamed up with the McConnell Foundation to provide financial assistance to cancer patients in need and to provide community-level cancer education to patients, cancer care providers, and the general public. The cooperative proposes to support cancer research and to conduct cancer screenings while aiming to help prevent cancer, improve cancer patient survival, and reduce cancer treatment side effects.
All of the proceeds raised will stay local in the Redding community for education, screenings, and overall financial assistance. These proceeds will provide aid for cancer patients who are in need of expenses, such as transportation to their doctor appointments, groceries while under treatment, medical supplies, temporary housing, child care, and other incidental expenses related to cancer care. Proceeds will be shared with the Pedro GTP to support the Carr Fire victims.
“Our belief is that by not having to worry about these necessities, cancer patients can concentrate on what is really important – beating their disease,” says Solomon Agin, President and Chairman of the Board at 21st Century C.A.R.E.
